The Eternal  Separation

I.          INTRODUCTION:

A.       WE ARE LIVING IN A MIXED STATE OF SOCIETY:

COMMENT:    Saints and sinners mix and mingle in numerous phases of life.

1.        Like the wheat and the chaff on the same threshing floor.

2.        Like the wheat and the tares in the same field.

3.        Like the good fish and the bad fish in the same net.

4.        Like the sheep and the goats in the same pasture.

B.        THE TIME OF SEPARATION IS COMING:

1.        Saints will  be congregated to themselves.

2.        Sinners will  be congregated to themselves.

       C. THE LORD WILL MAKE THE SEPARATION – BUT  HOW?

II.       DISCUSSION:

A.       AS THE WINNOWER SEPARATES THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFF:

Matthew 3:12 = “Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor;  and he will gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.

1.        His threshing-floor:  The temple, and or the church.  Peter said in I Peter 4:17 = “For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God.

2.        The manner:  With the “fan” of God’s justice and avenging wrath.

3.        The thoroughness of it:  “He will thoroughly  cleanse his threshing-floor.”

4.        The destiny:

a.         The good wheat (faithful) will be gathered into the garner of heavenly security.  (Matthew 25:34).

b.         The chaff (unfaithful) will be burned in Hell fire.  (Matthew 25:41).

B.        AS THE REAPERS SEPARATE THE WHEAT FROM THE TARES:  (Matthew 13:24-30, Matthew 13:37-43).

1.        The time of separation:  The end of the world”, when the saints are ripe for salvation, and the sinners for destruction.

Revelation 14:14-16 = “And I saw, and behold, a white cloud;  and on the cloud I saw one sitting like unto a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.  And another angel came out from the temple, crying with a great voice to him that sat on the cloud, send forth thy sickle, and reap:  for the hour to reap is come;  for the harvest of the earth is ripe.  And he that sat on the cloud cast his sickle upon the earth;  and the earth was reaped.

2.        The agents of separation:  Angels of God.

Matthew 13:41-43 = “The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and them that do iniquity, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire:  there shall be weeping and the gnashing of teeth.  Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.  Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

3.        The destiny:  (Matthew 13:24-43)

a.         The wheat (faithful or righteous):   Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.  (Matthew 13:43). (Matthew 13:30).

THE ETERNAL SEPARATION, cont’d:

 b.         The tares (wicked,  unrighteous, or unfaithful):

(1)      Bound into bundles to be burned (Matthew 13:30). (Matthew 13:40).

(2)      A  bundle of:  Liars, adulterers, and Etc.

C.       AS THE FISHERMAN SEPARATES THE GOOD FISH FROM THE BAD:

(Matthew 13:47-50)

                  1. The time of separation:   So shall it be at the end of the world” (Matthew 13:49).

2.      The agents of separation:  …The angels shalll come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just.” (Matthew 13:49).

3.      The destiny:

a. Gathered the good into vessels” to be kept. (Matthew 13:48).

b. Cast the bad away”, these not fit to keep. (Matthew 13:48).

c. (Matthew 13:49-50) = “So shall it be at the end of the world:  the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire:  there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

D.       AS THE SHEPHERD SEPARATES THE SHEEP FROM THE GOATS:  (Matthew 25:31-46).

COMMENT:  The separation is universal – all nations.

1.        The time of separation:  The coming of the Son of God.  (Matthew 25:31) =  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the  holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

2.        The manner of the separation:  Like separating sheep from goats.   (Matthew 25:32) = “And before him shall be gathered all nations:  and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.

NOTE:  Even though each nation will be judged and separated it will be done individually – “One from another” (Matthew 25:32)

3.        The destiny, or results of the separation:

a.           The goats (unfaithful):  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment” (Matthew 25:46).

b.           The sheep (faithful):  But the righteous into life eternal” (Matthew 25:46)
