Man Should Stay Out Of God's Business

I.          INTRODUCTION:

A.  SCRIPTURE READING:

1 Corinthians 2:11  =  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Jeremiah 10:23  =  O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

1 Kings 3:14  =  And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

Isaiah 55:8  =  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Matthew 15:9  =  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

2 Timothy 4:1-4  =  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Deuteronomy 4:2  =  Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Revelation 22:18-19  =  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Galatians 1:10-12  =  For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

B.        THE BUSINESS OF SAVING MAN IS GOD’S:

1.        God sent his saving message to man by His Son. [John 1:1 & John 1:14]

2.        God gave us the only way for salvation and that is through his Son [John 14:6]

3.        God’s Son is the only one to whom we should listen and obey.

Hebrews 1:1-2  =  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"
Hebrews 2:1-4 = "
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.  For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;  God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

C.       MAN NEEDS TO MIND HIS OWN BUSINESS AND  NOT BE MAKING CHANGES IN   GOD’S BUSINESS:

1.        God sent things  the way he wanted them to man and man should not add to them or take away from them.

2.        Notice with me some aspects of God’s business and the proper relationship that man should have regarding it.

II.       DISCUSSION:

A.  REGARDING GOD’S SON:

1.        It was God’s business to send Him.

John 3:16-17  =  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

Romans 5:8  =  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

2.        It is man’s business to accept and believe His Son.

John 8:24  =  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

John 12:48  =  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

John 6:66-68  =  From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.  Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?  Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

B.        REGARDING THE BIBLE:

1.        It was God’s business through the Holy Spirit to give  man the Bible.

2 Peter 1:21  =  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

John 14:26  =  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26  =  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:13  =  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

2.        It is man’s business to accept and believe the Bible and follow it --  not change it.

Galatians 1:6-9  =  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

C.       REGARDING  THE PLAN  OF SALVATION:

1.        It  God’s business to give man His plan of salvation by the Holy Spirit which was:

a.         To hear  --

Romans 10:13-14  =  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

b.         To believe  --

Hebrews 11:6  =  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

c.         To repent  --

Luke 13:3  =  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

d.         To confess  --

Matthew 10:32  =  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

e.         To be baptized  --

Acts 2:38  =  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

2.        It is man’s business to obey the Holy Spirit given plan.

Hebrews 2:3  =  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

1 Peter 4:17  =  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9  =  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Acts 2:40  =  And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

D.       REGARDING THE SINS OF MAN:

1.        It is God’s business to forgive man’s sins.

Matthew 6:12  =  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Acts 8:22  =  Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

2.        God has not given man the business of remitting sins.

a.         How then do we understand,  John 20:23  =  Whosoever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

b.         Comment:  This was stated by the Lord when He had breathed on his apostles and said to them:  Receive ye the Holy Ghost” [John 20:22].  The Holy Ghost would give unto them the conditions on which man’s sins would be forgiven.  There are no other conditions by which man can forgive man’s sins.

c.         It is man’s business to repent and it is God’s business to forgive. {Acts 8:22}

E.        REGARDING THE CHURCH:

1.        It was God’s business to give the blueprint of the church as He wanted it built.

Matthew 16:18  =  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Acts 20:28  =  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

2.        It is man’s business to comply with the Lord’s blueprint:

a.         That the Church would  be according to God’s way.

Acts 2:40-42  =  And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.  Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.  And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 2: 47 = "Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

b.         It was not man’s business to build a church of his own.

Matthew 15:13-14  =  But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

F.        REGARDING ADMISSION TO THE CHURCH:

1.        It is the Lord’s to say who will be a part of the church.

a.         Acts 2:47  =  Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

b.         These will be those that have complied with and done  what the Lord has said.
Luke 6:46  =”And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

2.        It is not man’s business to open or to close the doors of the Church as he so desires.

a.         The keys to the Church were given to the apostles.

Matthew 16:19  =  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Matthew 18:18
= "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

b.         The doors were opened on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.

c.         The doors have been opened ever since then.

3.        It is man’s business to preach only the Lord’s terms of admission into the church.    Any other terms or conditions will bring forth a curse from God.

G.       REGARDING JUDGING MAN.

1.        It is God’s business to judge man.

John 5:30  =  I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.  [See also Matthew 25:31-46]

2.        It is man’s business  to preach the gospel as God gave it.

Mark 16:15-16  =  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Romans 1:16  =  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

1 Corinthians 9:16  =  For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

Galatians 1:8-9  =  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

3.        It is man’s business to follow the gospel as God gave it for it will be the instrument of judgment.

John 12:48-50  =  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.  For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.  And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Comment:  For man to do anything else is not judging, but plain disobeying God.

III.    CONCLUSION:

A.  THE BIBLE HAS STATED PLAINLY WHAT IS GOD’S BUSINESS.

B.   THE BIBLE HAS STATED PLAINLY WHAT IS MAN’S BUSINESS.

C.  THE QUESTION TO BE ANSWERED =  WILL MAN EVER LEARN THE DIFFERENCE?
