A.
SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S EXISTENCE:
1.
That the idea of God is only a fable.
Comment:
Mr. Ingersoll was asked if he believed in God, he replied,
“Well, I have never seen one.”
Neither had he seen electricity, pain, nor sorrow.
2.
Such people as these are fools.
Psalms
14:1 =
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no
God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is
none that doeth good.”
3.
Even the heavens declare the glory of God.
Psalms
19:1 =
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the
firmament sheweth his handywork.”
4.
Why should the idea of God be thought incredible when humanity
everywhere testifies that he has a need of God. Man’s need of God is so great that those who know not
the true God create a god for themselves.
B.
SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S CREATIVE POWER:
1.
They try to explain the world in terms of evolution.
Comment:
However, the evolutionist has to start with something
and he does not know how to get that something.
2.
The only explanation of creation is found in Genesis, which
begins with an all-powerful, self-existing Being.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth”.

SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S WORD:
1.
They deny that the Bible is God’s inspired message.
Comment:
If there is a God – and there is – it is reasonable
to assume that He would communicate with man in a definite and concrete
manner; so the Bible
is a reasonable thing.

The Bible is inspired:

Timothy 3:16-17 = “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness: That
the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good
works.”

“For the prophecy came not in old time by the
will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the
Holy Ghost.”

It is easy to prove the Bible is true.

SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S SON:

They say Christ was a good man but was not the Son of God.
Comment:
But if He was a good man – and he was – the
He was the Son of God; because
he claimed to be the Son of God.

5:17-23 =
“But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto,
and I work. Therefore
the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken
the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself
equal with God. Then
answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father
do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things
that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these,

The dual nature of Jesus is seen in that he was

son of man and the son of God
--- which
qualified him as the one and only mediator between God and man –
as He was part of both physical and Spiritual.

SOME SPEAKS WORDS AGAINST GOD’S ABILITY:
1.
They accuse God of writing a book that man s unable to understand,
which reflects upon God’s ability.
2.
Christianity is a religion to be taught and can be understood.
Matthew
28:19-20 =
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost: Teaching them
to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo,
I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Isaiah
35:8 =
“And an highway shall be there, and a way, and
it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass
over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools,
shall not err therein.”
Matthew
13:15 =
“For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their
ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest
at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their
ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted,
and I should heal them.”

SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S IMPARTIALITY:

Among these are those who follow Calvinism that speak of
God electing some people to salvation and predestinating
others to condemnation, without the choice of either.

But God:
a.
Loved the whole world.

only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.”

Would have the whole world be saved.

Gave His Son to taste of death for everyman.

honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every
man.”
d.
Invites all to come to his eternal rest.

11:28-30 =
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and
lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S FAIRNESS:
1.
The speak of the Lord holding an infant responsible for the
sin of Adam and Eve ---
or hereditary depravity.

Sin, however, is an individual thing.

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son
shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father
bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous
shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon
him.”

An infant:
a.
Is born guiltless.

“And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be
converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into
the kingdom of heaven.”

Becomes guilty of sin as it grows older and commits sin.

SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD’S SINCERITY:
1.
They accuse God of hypocrisy.
a.
They say that God is behind all the religious faiths, doctrines,
and bodies in the world.
b.
They say that God has called one man to deny what he has
called another to affirm.
c.
They say he calls one man to preach one doctrine one night
and another man to preach the very opposite the next night.
2.
God is not responsible for the confusion in world religions.

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell
shall not prevail against it.”
Ephesians
4:4-6 =
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye
are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,One God and Father of all,
who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
Philippians
3:16 =
“Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained,
let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.”

“Thou shalt
not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the
LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”
James
3:9-12 =
“Therewith
bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which
are made after the similitude of God.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.
My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water
and bitter? Can the
fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs?
so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.”
